Ireland / Basque Country 2012 > Lahinch
The first ever Cross Culture Surf exchange took place in Eater 2012, between Ireland and the Basque Country. The exchange was pioneered and organised by Joseba Attard, Jono Griffin (The Surf Project) and Zutundu. It was funded by the European Union Youth in Action scheme.
30 young people aged 14-17 (15 Basque and 15 Irish traveled to Lahinch (Ireland) where they were able to experience Irish culture in a dynamic and fun learning environment. Activities included daily surf lessons with the Lahinch Surf School, cultural identity workshops, team building challenges and a whole host of activites and excursions especially designed to promote inter-cultural dialogue and understanding.
It was a fantastic opportunity to experience a new culture and to make new friends!
